Nathan's baby misbehaved....

Because when the baby misbehaves that means it is Nathan's baby and not mine... okay maybe not....

Well the ultrasound today was another bust - the baby wasn't cooperative. It just kind of was hanging out in the wrong position and didn't want to change. SO.... we have one last try on Monday. I will be drinking A LOT A LOT A LOT of water between now and then and they said to drink some OJ before the appt. Hopefully that will work. There is only a small window they can do this scan/measurement and after that the baby will probably be too big.

The pictures aren't as great as last week, but they are different and I like them.

The first one is the baby's spine and the second one is the baby's face. The face one is kind of freaky.

My shrimp is the size of a shrimp... Baby Week 13

Almost through the first trimester!! This is the last week - YAY!! Tomorrow is take two at getting the measurements needed with an ultrasound. Hopefully this little one cooperates for the tech this time. But I'm not complaining - it will be fun to see this baby moving and kicking and bigger than this time last week! We'll have more pictures too.

Here is the weekly update! It is a short one...

Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

Belly Picture Week 12

Alright - I let Nathan take another belly picture... ugh. Seriously - this is really my least favorite part of this whole process. It seems my belly is a bit bigger than it was 4 weeks ago. Lovely.... although it is does not look pregnant - just fat. Oh da well - not much I can do about that. I've actually lost 7 pounds!!

I put week 8 and 12 in so you can see the difference for yourself. Gag me - I hate these and feel like I want to boycott them from here on out!!! Just so you know.

No I ain't "limin'" Baby Week 12

Hey - I am still in love with looking at the pictures from yesterday - it was fantastic!

Not much to report. I am still sick with what is called virally induced asthma... I wonder if I already said that... if I did - oops! My abs hurt so bad from coughing and because they are stretching. My pants are getting tighter the past few days that I've noticed. Not sure how much longer they will last before I need maternity pants!

Here is the weekly update!

The most dramatic development this week: Reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over two inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

We saw the baby again!!!

The baby is doing great! We saw and heard the heartbeat and it was very cool. The baby was jumping all over the place and kicking his legs and waving his arms. It was fantastic. However - the baby was being stubborn - clearly our child. :-) The gal doing the ultrasound wasn't able to get the measurements she needed so we are going back next Thursday to try again.

Here are the pictures we got: (If you don't see the pictures email me!)

Picture #1 - The baby's hand

Picture #2 - That is a profile shot. The baby is facing down and you can see part of the spine at the top of the baby's neck. The measurement at the bottom... 5.19 cm is how long the baby is from the top of it's head to the bottom of it's butt! So just over two inches and that is not including the baby's legs.

Picture #3 - This is the baby's leg. You can see it and the foot. The bottom half of the body is on the left and the leg is on the right.

Picture #4 - This is another little profile picture!

Are you "figgin'" kidding me?!? Baby Week 11

I am kind of sort of on the mend from this bronchitis. It has really kicked my butt. Luckily the sinus congestion has let up, but the draining in the back of my throat makes me cough all the time. Plus the bronchitis in general makes me cough - so it is a lovely time! I have taken to sleeping on the couch the past 4 or 5 nights. I try to sleep in bed, but it just doesn't work too well. Thankfully, I'm early enough in my pregnancy that I can still lay on my back which is pretty much the only position I can sleep in. I hope I feel better soon because I only have a few more weeks of being able to do that and then it is only sleeping on my sides and preferably my left side rather than my right side. So many rules when you are pregnant!

So that is the update on mommy - oh we have our next OB appt and ultrasound on the 19th... so next Tuesday! YAY!!

Here is what is happening with Baby Wolfe (with a picture at the bottom)...

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.

She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

There should be a "no being sick" rule for pregnant women...

Highlights of my day:

1. So I don't think it is fair at all that just because I'm pregnant I should have a weaker immune system. I have bronchitis (thanks to my loving husband who had it first) but of course I can't really take any good medication for it. ugh...

2. The spotting I have been having the last couple days has finally stopped... yay!

3. It is 9:20 and I have been fighting going to bed since 8:15... last night I was in bed at 8:30. I'm living on the edge on a Friday night! GO ME!

4. I couldn't figure out what sounded good for dinner so I finally decided I wanted Arby's Beef and Cheddar. Five or six bites later I had to spit out what I was eating because I thought I was going to throw it up. YUMMY!

5. I didn't want to leave after I spit out my food and Nathan threw everything left away. So I sat there and quite literally rambled for an hour and a half about a BUNCH of random stuff and I think Nathan said a total of 10 works (maybe) the entire 90 minutes of me rambling. He is good at just listening to me and letting me go crazy.

6. I went to the doctor for my brochitis and I have lost five pounds since I got pregnant. I know that is fine when you are as voluptuously gifted as myself, but it still seems kind of funny to lose weight when you are pregnant.

7. This really isn't a highlight - more of a lowlight - but two women in my pregnancy buddy group online lost their babies this week. We just found out about it today. One was due the same time I was and the other was due a few days before. It is so sad to me. I can't imagine being in that situation. I know I will feel better once I get past the 12 week mark. I'm really looking forward to the 19th when we will see our baby and how much more baby looking it has become. Nathan and I pray every night or every time the need strikes us for our baby. We pray a prayer of thanks that God has blessed us so greatly with this child. We pray that God provides health and wellbeing for our little baby. That it will grow and develop as intended. We pray for my health as I am the "incubator" (as Nathan likes to call me.) It is an overwhelming feeling to know this little life is depending on me for everything it needs.

Okay - I think I'm done rambling - seems to be my norm for the day... I like rambling.

So that is what is going on. Any and all prayers for the Wolfe family are more than appreciated.

Much love! I'm going to bed!

A Kumquat you say? Baby Week 10!

I'm happy to say that we have entered the land of double digit weeks! YAY! We have our next appt and ultrasound on the 19th... I'm looking forward to that. The baby will look a lot more like a baby at that point. As for how I am feeling, well mood swings are a great time! I spent much of the day crying yesterday. Everything I thought about made me feel stressed and the more stressed I was the more worked up I got and then BAM waterworks! I am feeling much better today and Nathan and I had a good talk about everything and that is always a good thing. So that is what is going on with me.... and now for the baby....

Though he's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.
