Kisses all around!

With the birth of Wolfe Cub #2 approaching, my realization of the fact that our little family of three will be no more causes much anxiety. I love our family of three. I'm sure a family of four will be awesome! But frankly that is an unknown reality and I KNOW this reality. As you well know if you have read this blog for longer than three minutes that Logan is a total dare devil. He is a rough and tumble, get dirty, bruised up, jump without thinking, toddler of a boy. The boy is giving me gray hairs! For real - I pulled some out. *Shudder*

Anyway - he is also a love machine! This has escalated to whole new levels of late. I wonder if he is getting a sense that life as he knows it is going to change something fierce this fall. Or maybe he is just realizing that Nathan and I are fan-freakin-tastic parents. Either way... I am LOVING all the love going on in the Wolfe house.

The other day he was out with my mom and I texted her to give him a kiss for me as I was having an "I miss my boy" moment. This is what she sent me back:

That is my boy - mid-kiss-blowing. I love it - of course. Made me all teary eyed... that could be the raging hormones though. But I think it is just my overwhelming love for this little guy and the awesome love he shows Nathan and I on a daily basis. We are two lucky people to have the best of both sides of Logan... he is a rough and tumble boy with the heart to love love love!

Baby Appt

I had my second OB appt this morning. All was well. My blood pressure was good which made me happy. Today I am 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant and the doctor said we may not be able to hear the heartbeat with the dopplar. Sure enough she was right. I'm very glad she told me that before she tried and not after. Because she couldn't hear the hearbeat on the dopplar she took me in for a quick ultrasound. Yay for a glimps at the baby! There was our little one - just wiggling away looking like a tiny little baby - no more of the blob from a month ago. Very cool! So here is baby's second photo shoot - the third coming next week. Baby will get LOTS of them as when you have gestational diabetes you get monthly ultrasounds. For anyone having trouble with the ultrasound. Baby's head is on the right and body is on the left. :) (Oh and I saw a glimps of the baby's face and the spine and all that. It was cool!)

Still here - an update...

Hey all - we are still alive and kicking. I just haven't been very motivated to write anything lately. Living in SE Michigan comes with its blessings and curses. First being March... you get little tastes of spring and 60 degree weather and then literally 2 days later it is 25 degrees and snowing again. Mother Natures little practical joke we fall for every.single.year! But spring is around the corner and we can't wait! We had 5 or 6 nights straight that we went for walks after dinner - totally fantasticness for sure!

Logan is great - as per usual. Here he is below livin' it up at daycare. They actually let them just have an all out flour fun time. Crazy teachers I swear! They even taught Logan that it was super cool to blow the flour off his hands to make a flour cloud! Awesome. Can't wait for our next baking endeavour.... should be.... messy. :)

He is also taking swim classes on Monday nights. His last class is this coming Monday. It is a parent/tot class he takes with Nathan and they are having a great time! We might even do the next session that starts mid April since Logan is having so much fun.

A few cute moments/memories:
  • Yesterday morning I was in the kitchen packing his lunch and I hear, "Momma, what are you doing?" I told him I was packing lunch. His response was, "No do lunch, come sit down, I cuddle you." Talk about melting a Momma's heart. And obviously I stopped what I was doing for some good cuddle time with my boy. I can't imagine he will want to do this when he is 16.
  • He is in full love mode right now. He has always been a big lover boy, but he is showering daddy and I will hugs and kisses all the time. They are so random too. We'll be watching TV or doing just about anything or nothing and we'll hear, "Daaaaaaddy/Mooooooomma, I hug you! I kiss you!" And if he does it for one he always comes and gives love to the other. It is sweet.
  • Yesterday his teacher at daycare told Nathan at pick up that Logan was pretending to take a bubble bath and somehow convinced every other kid to also take a bubble bath in the middle of the room. Thankfully it was just pretend and not a big mess for the teachers to clean up.

Lindsey/Baby Update:

We are just about 11 weeks and things are going fine. I've already been labeled a gestational diabetic. I am fairly certain I had it earlier than when I was diagnosed with Logan so I'll be continuing on the diet and pricking my finger 4 times a day and also will be starting insulin as my diet/exercise are not keeping my fasting numbers (the test first thing in the morning before you eat) down. They aren't THAT high. They need to be under 90 and they are anywhere from 91-98. But Insulin it is - one a day at bedtime at this point. That is all it was last time with Logan so I'm hoping for the same.

Everyone seems to be expecting me to break down and beat myself up about it. Well - I can't help at THIS point that I didn't lose more weight before pregnancy. I also can't help that this is how my body reacts to being pregnant. It is what it is at this time. I can worry and whine (and I do whine sometimes) and be all woe is me, but what good is that going to do, really? I just need to suck it up and deal and do what is best for baby.

It is a bit strange in that I've lost 12 pounds since finding out I was pregnant (so over the past 6-7 weeks). A result of not sitting on my butt 24/7, eating healthier, eating more appropriate portions and moving my booty more. My nutritionist was not thrilled with my weight loss, but at the same time, was she actually surprised? I can't imagine she would be. The last time I did well sticking to an eating plan was when pregnant with Logan. Are we surprised? I'm not. It wasn't about ME - it was about my baby. I have struggled for decades with self image, self esteem, self worth... (all the "selfs".) It has always been easy to put the effort in for someone else. It is harder for me to put the effort in for me. I never feel I'm worth it. My prayer is that by living this healthier food lifestyle for 8 months rather than 8 weeks I will be able to keep it going AFTER the baby arrives and get to a MUCH healthier weight. That will make me a MUCH happier women and FOR SURE a much better momma to my children.

Okay - enough rambling on about me. My next OB appointment is this coming Tuesday and we have our first trimester screening ultrasound on April 6th. GOOD TIMES!

A little ice cream is a good thing

Logan is on a big eating kick lately. Last night we had pizza and he ate almost two whole pieces and a bread stick and his drink. He was a hungry boy. Then a little while later he asked for ice cream. We figured why not? Nathan dished him up a little and then of course Logan asked for chocolate on top (his Father's son.) Then he crawled up on the couch with his winter hat on and chowed down. He was such a doll and kept saying how yummy his ice cream was. Such a happy camper!

Odds and Ends

A little bit of an odds and ends post of sorts. I don't know if it is the fact that I know our time as a family of three is coming to a close or what - but I am just soaking up every little bit of Logan that I can these days. Every look... every gesture... every laugh... every funny antic... every ... well everything! I can't seem to get enough of him. I often find myself watching him and getting teary eyed as I know the end of this year his world is going to change dramatically! I know he will roll with it... he always does, but geez... okay - pregnancy hormones... teary eyed again. Moving on...

The weekend before last we went to The Tree House and met up with my long time friend Emily and her family. We have known each other since high school and while we don't see each other often we area always able to pick up where we left off. We have planned so many play dates over the past 2 years as she has a daughter 6 months younger than Logan. We have cancelled all of them for some reason or another, but finally we made it! It was a great time! Logan had such a great time he was asleep with in minutes of getting in the car. He didn't even finish his rice krispie treat or juice! (Daddy and Momma did enjoy the rest of the treat though! ha!)

Logan is such a silly guy - he loves getting his picture taken and knows whenever I hold my phone up it is "cheeeeeese" time. He got majorly up close and personal in this one. As soon as I take a picture he asks to see it. It is cute.

Logan has been an eating machine lately. I would never say he is a picky eater, but he for sure has his likes and dislikes. Lately though he has been eating a lot of different things completely on his own accord. First it was watermelon... then grilled chicken... blueberries... mango... and then last night he really shocked us. We were having stir fry and of that he usually eats chicken and carrots and then a side of some fruit. But on Nathan and my's plates we also had rice, broccoli and sugar snap peas. Logan asked for the broccoli and at all the broccoli on both our plates and then asked and ate all our peas. It was pretty great! He loved it! In this picture below we are eating at Qdoba and Logan overdosed on chips and hot salsa... the kid LOVES spicy foods. (sorry for how bright it is... the window was behind them!)

Logan is a helper. MAJOR helper. He was very happy to vacuum the stairs for momma. And Momma was very happy to let him do it as I detest doing the stairs. He did offer to take turns with both Daddy and I and then quickly said it was his turn again.

Today I had an impromptu lunch with my dad. My mom is out of town visiting her cousin so he has been flying solo. He was making chicken noodle soup, but instead of noodles he put in some hand cut knifles (German dish and SUPER YUMMY!!) It was so nice to sit and visit with my dad and chit chat. We used to go on daddy/daughter dates, but haven't in a while so it was nice to have some one on one time with him. And his soup was pretty yummy as well! Double Bonus!

Logan started swim class last night. It is parent/tot and he is swimming with Daddy. I thought I would be able to sit on the deck and take pictures, but I had to sit on the observation deck behind the glass on the second level. So next week I'll have pictures as I'll remember to take the super zoom lens!
So there you have it - my odds and ends of the day!

Such a sweet Logan moment...

A few cute things... Here is a picture of Daddy and Logan from this morning (please ignore the mess behind the cute boys! It is life.) Daddy dressed Logan after he got up and I don't know that he did it intentionally, but he dressed himself the same way! ha! He came in to say bye to us when he left for work and I pointed out their matching outfits I asked him to pause for a picture... aren't they just adorable!

When I dropped Logan off at daycare today (this also happened yesterday) and he was playing and wanting me to play with him for a bit - which I did of course. He is so fun to play with. Then he gives me a hug and kiss and says, "I love YOU Momma!" (Always an emphasis on the "you.") Then as I'm walking out the door he yells "Momma!!! Wait! I hug you!" And comes running to me in the doorway and gives me another HUGE hug and kiss. It just melts my heart. He sure does know how to put a big smile on his Momma's face. :)

The first weeks...

So here is the blog that went unpublished for the last month. I thought I could share now. :)

Febrary 3, 2010
So after a negative test three days ago and feeling sick to my stomach the past two days and gagging at the smell of something I woke up this morning and took a pregnancy test... I'M PREGNANT! YIPEE! Good gosh! We have been trying for a while and are just SO thrilled! EEK!

Feb 20, 2010
So I can't post any of this stuff to my blog just yet, but I want to write some things down. Reason being is because I went back and read all the things I wrote when I was pregnant with Logan. Yes - that is right... I'M PREGNANT!! We found out on Thursday Feb 3rd early in the morning - the same as Logan.

I started feeling some symptoms before I tested - I didn't test as early as I did with Logan as I was sure I wasn't pregnant. We had been trying for many months and I was feeling rather discouraged this month. We had started getting some fertility testing and of course the month we started these tests is the month we got pregnant!

Anyway - I was having morning sickness and very tired for a couple days leading up to getting a positive test. After testing positive the symptoms continued - sick to my stomach, tired and sore breasts. I had a cough which caused me to gag every time I coughed - it was looooooooovely! Then I get sick with the horrible flu/upper respiratory infection/fever. It was a long week. I was so worried about the baby and if the baby would handle all that was going on with me.

I've had some spotting and a good deal of cramping, but never at the same time. I'm praying this little baby is settling in for the long haul! We had some beta blood work done and the numbers are supposed to double every 48 or so hours... mine doubled in 49 so that is good news at that point. So here I sit... according to my last period I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow. According to my ovulation I'll be 7 weeks on Thursday. We have our first ultrasound to check for a heartbeat on the 1st! I am very anxious for that appointment and for everything to look a-okay!

February 23, 2010

A day full of gagging and dry heaving. Fuuuuuuuuun! They had me do a one hour glucose test to test for gestational diabetes. I had to do it early on with Logan too due to my vuluptuously gifted-ness. I failed that one hour and then passed the three hour. I'm hoping for the same this time around. I have that test on Thursday the 3rd. I thought I'd make it for after my ultrasound on the 1st just to make sure everything is good with the baby before I torture myself with the 3-hour test. Good times... (UPDATE: After talking with my doctor we opted not to do the 3-hour and since I've basically been doing the gestational diabetes diet the past few weeks I'm just going to continue with that and check my sugars and call it good. Works for me... I SO did not want to do that 3-hour test!)

February 28, 2010
Tomorrow is a big day for us. Ultrasound day. I'm 8 weeks today and I can't wait til tomorrow. It is going to be a loooooong morning - our appt is at 1:00 in the afternoon. I am just praying so hard we see an image similar to what we saw with Logan at 8 weeks and 2 days. I'm praying for a flickering heart going pitter patter pitter patter pitter patter.... praying praying praying. *deep breaths* *deep breaths* *deep breaths* *deep breaths* Just typing it out I can feel my anxiety rising. Something I'm really going to work on for sure.

A little somethin' somethin'

A little somethin' somethin'..... but some BIG news!

We had our first ultrasound today. They changed my due date from October 10th to October 16th (which I expected since I knew I ovulated later than what is considered "normal.") We saw this TINY (my doctor said the baby was about a 1/2 cm long) little baby's heartbeat and then the doctor said we would probably be able to hear it and we could! It was amazing! It was around 160 beats per minute and sounded like music to my ears.
Logan says he wants a sister and that Momma is having a girl baby. In all the times I've asked him he has never once changed from those answers. We shall see if he is right. Nathan really wants a girl and I'm pretty okay with either one, but having one of each would be pretty great.
I have a post I've been adding thoughts to since we found out we were pregnant and I'll post that tomorrow or sometime.
So there you have it! YAY for another member of the Wolfe Pack!
