Happy Valentine's Day from some little Wolfes!
Today is Abby's first Valentine's Day and Logan's 4th (!!!) and I finally got my act together and made them some cute little outfits! Abby has a onsie that I added a heart to and a little no-sew tutu (although in the end I did end up sewing it a little bit.) And Logan wore a very tough guy black shirt with a tie that I added. I was quite pleased with how they turned out!

Flubber!!!
Saturday morning Nathan was gone helping his brother's family move so I thought it would be a good morning to try some new fun activities. Enter - FLUBBER! My wonderful neighbor gave us this recipe and it was a blast! Instructions are below the photos.
Logan dove right in and was loving it! He kept calling it "slam" rather than slime and thought it was great how it would stretch.

We added some plastic forks and spoons and then he drove some of his matchbox cars through it and made circles with his cups, etc etc etc.

The best was putting body parts in the flubber... hands were an obvious first choice followed quickly with sock removal and foot squishing.
Logan even wanted to share with Abby and let sister have some experience with the flubber.
Next up was BELLY PRINTS! He was pretty thrilled that his belly button showed up. He even tried his nose, ears and elbows!
Abby was pretty impressed with watching her big brother! (Please ignore the scissors behind her - clearly those should have been up in a safe place! All is well though!)
The flubber will stay good for about 3 weeks in an air tight container on the counter. Logan has played with it 3 or 4 times since and has still been having a good time!
I made HALF a batch for Logan - the recipe below is for double what I made for him.
What you need:
Warm water 3 tsp. Borax (non-toxic/available by laundry detergents)
2 cups of white glue
Food coloring
What to do:
In a large container, (such as a large bowl), combine 1.5 cups warm water, 2 cups white glue and food coloring.
In a second, smaller container, combine 11/3 cups warm water with 3 tsp. Borax.
Mix ingredients in each container thoroughly.
Pour contents of small container into the large container.
Gently lift and turn the mixture until approximately a tablespoon of liquid is left.
Flubber will be sticky at first. Let excess liquid drip off. Flubber will then be ready!

Family Fun Day January
Last Summer we started a new tradition of "Family Fun Day!" We had a great time at parks, splash pads, pizza picnics and such. Well when Abby was born we kind of got a little lazy in carrying this on, but got back on track last month. I have a whole list of ideas in my planner and have been enjoying just pulling some out for our plans!
We started off Family Fun Day January 2012 with a trip to the Natural History Museum on the campus of the University of Michigan. Logan loves dinosaurs and he was so excited to see fossils! The museum was the perfect size - enough fossils to get him excited, but not too much that he would get lost. We arrived about 10 minutes after they opened and it was nice because he could run around and have fun and yell and shout and get super excited. Perfect!

This was Abby's first Family Fun Day and she did well in her Beco carrier as logn as she was super tight against me.

In the gift shop we picked up a Paleontologist kit for Logan to do some of his own fossil digging. This was an exceptionally messy project, but Logan loved it. The age on it was for over 8 years old she he for sure needed Daddy's help to dig out all the pieces. They had a great time and it really held his attention for over an hour!
SUCH Concentration - love it!
It was a great great day - we watched a movie together while eating our pizza and then off to bed where Logan said it was a great day. That was a cherry on top for sure!
Our next Family Fun Day is February 18th! Can't wait!!
