All the cool people have it....

So obviously that includes me! "It" being - gestational diabetes. I batted 500 though on the test so you think that should count for something... but no. I failed two of the four blood draws.

What does this mean? A few things:
1. I have to poke my finger and test my sugar four times per day
2. I have a new a very specific diet to follow - healthy eating so it isn't that bad. The hardest part will be making sure I get the right balance of carbs/protein/sugar/fat... What works for some people may not work for all and such. Kind of trial and error. We shall see!
3. I will get monthly ultrasounds to make sure Logan isn't getting too big.
4. I will be monitored most closely - meeting with a dietitian next Thursday, but already started the general diet guidelines.

So that is that... not the most fun thing, but I know I will be able to stay on track much better than if it only effected me. Knowing that it effects Logan is a whole different ballgame!

Oops - I missed a week!

Sorry I forgot to post last week - between packing and getting ready to move and being overly stressed out - I just flat out forgot.

98 more days until Logan is here! AKA 14 weeks... crazy how fast time goes! He will be here before we know it! My morning was spent getting repeatedly poked with needles... it was lovely. I had to do the 3-hour glucose test again today. I did it the first time at 8 weeks and doing it today which is when it is normally done in pregnancy. Good times... I'm glad it is over with - that is for sure! The sugary drink they make you drink is just nasty and I felt sick most of the time. Luckily they give me my own special room with a TV and bed. So I watched a movie for half the time and then slept the other half! Worked out well in that regard.

We moved into our house over the weekend! The move itself went great! We had tons of help, my parents, Nathan's parents, Kyle, Eric and Nathan's sister Deb. I did a whole lot of nothing and sat in a chair pointing. I was feeling really crappy so it was probably a good thing. We had everything moved out of the 3rd floor apartment and into the house in less than four hours! It was great! Unpacking... not that is going... slowly, but it is getting there. Feels like every time we start one box it takes us to another box and neither box is empty by the time bedtime comes about. I am hoping this weekend we can bang out a lot of it. My goal tonight is to finish putting all our bathroom stuff away and get a bit more organized with the clothes in the bedroom. We shall see! I know we will feel SO much better and so much more at home when we finally have some rooms just flat out DONE!

Anyway - so the update for Logan goes as such:

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. (Nathan is getting back in to reading to Logan so it will be fun to see if he responds to his voice in the coming weeks.) He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. (I wonder how much of that baby fat is going to end up as Wolfe cheeks... or maybe he'll just get mommy's high cheek bones and call it good... let's hope it isn't BOTH!!) He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches(an English hot house cucumber) (don't you just love how specific they get referencing food that is the size of your baby?) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take two to three days.

New Belly picture... 24 weeks (and 2 days)

Hey - here is another baby picture. The first one is 21 weeks and the second on is 24 weeks (and a couple days).

Things are good here. We are moving next Saturday! YAY! Although - I have a lot of packing to do still. My wonderful mother, aka the packing fairy, came over to help yesterday and will again today. She is the best!

I had an utter meltdown on Saturday afternoon. Nathan and I got in an agrument and then I was realizing everything we still needed to get taken care of and then BAM... blubbering idiot. I suppose being pregnant has something to do with it, and being tired, and impatient, and in pain 90% of the time. The same goes with Nathan on being tired and stressed. He has been working like mad at work - lots of hours these days and then working at the house. He is real tired. I know he is pushing through for the long week and then we'll be able to unpack a little slower. That being said - we'll have to get it done in decent time and finish (more like start) Logan's registry and get ready for his arrival. It will be here very quickly I think. We need a little calm before the storm! But all is well now - Nathan and I know we need to do a better job of cutting each other some slack. The rest of the weekend was great!

Oh - the only not great part was realizing our hot water heater was broken and we had no hot water. We showered down at the club house - it was lovely. *note sarcasm* I will miss being able to just call and have someone fix things for me for free though! ;-) One of the joys of apartment living!

Nothing clever to say about an ear of corn.... Baby Logan - Week 24

A gloomy day outside my window, but Logan doesn't seem to mind as he is still dancing around in tummyland. It has been a good week. Grandpa Hunt painted Logan's room a lovely blue color last weekend and I love it! We didn't want a baby blue room so the color worked out perfect! I can't wait until we buy a crib and start getting bedding and such and really putting his room together! I suppose the rest of the house needs to get done too, doesn't it? :-) This weekend will be a major push to finish everything - I'm pretty sure we will do just that! Mom has been doing the electrical and other odds and ends and Dad has been busy finishing painting. I think he will take a long break from painting! But overall the house is coming together great! Friends of the family (Rita and Wally Perkins) came over to shampoo our carpets just to be nice! They did the whole main floor last night and then will come back on Monday to do the bedrooms! Such a great present for them to give us! Nathan has been crazy busy cutting new baseboard for the ENTIRE house. He has done a fantastic job though - I am lucky he is such a patient man - jobs like these would make me crazy!

So every week when I get my baby update in my email, it also has a mommy update too. It seems my uterus should be about an inch above my belly button (which it feels like it is) and the size of a SOCCER BALL! That seems crazy to me - what is even MORE crazy is that it is going to get bigger. I should try not to think about that part!

Alright - time to get to Logan - this post is supposed to be about him right? Here you go!

Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when he was just over a pound (I can't believe he is about 1.5 pounds!) . Since he's almost a foot long - picture an ear of corn, that makes a pretty lean figure, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, his brain is growing rapidly, and his taste buds are developing. (I wonder how long it will take for him to be able to taste what I eat. That is kind of strange, but somewhere I read that actually happens! Who knows if that is true or not.) His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily.

Good Morning! Such an exciting day for Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Nathan! Our beautiful little niece was born at 4:40 yesterday and Piper is just wonderful. So alert and everything. What a joy to finally see her. However - know that in 17 weeks I'm going to be the one laying in that bed with a little baby in my arms is just crazy to me! I know that we are having a baby, but being busy with so many other things tends to distract me. We are SO happy for Kyle and Sarah and that the delivery went well. (Seriously - Sarah only pushed for 6 minutes - that is just absurd! That is like not even having to try!)



She is so perfect! She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz, but I don't know how long she was. They were going to do that when they gave her a bath and when I left they hadn't done that yet. Compared to Tommy's crazy long 22 inches we are thinking she is probably like 19 or 20. So was so alert and just such a curious little thing. Anyway - we picked out our nursery bedding the other night. So now we can pick paint colors for the nursery! Here is a link to what it looks like:




It was really easy to pick as it took us about 30 seconds once we got to the bedding section. Next is picking out the crib and setting up our registry in general! Craziness I tell you! Good think multi-tasking is something I tend to do well with.

So far everyone seems to like the name Logan Arthur and if they don't.... well we all know whose problem that is! :-D

So here is what little Logan is doing inside his mommy this week:

Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango). His skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing. He can swallow, but he normally won't pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb.

Piper is on her way!! and Baby Boy's possible name....

Kyle called and he and Sarah are all checked in at the hospital so my niece will soon bless this world with her presence! I am so excited to see what she will look like and who she will look like. I can't wait to head up there after work and see how things are going!! YAY!!

AND - here is our first name contender..... We are going to try it out and call the baby Logan and see how it fits. It is a big responsibility to name a person!
