The kids lately

Life is good these days. We have been getting things done... saving money... making smart choices... enjoying the kids... enjoying our marriage... things are good! I know - kind of mushy - but true. We are happy these days.

Abby is becoming a nice little interactive girl. Amazing how much more enjoyable life is when reflux/colic phase has passed. :) This photo was taken this morning before school - love the color and leg warmers. Make me happy.

Over the weekend she started getting a little goopy in her eye. She has had a cold and Logan was notorious for getting "colds in his eyes" (whatever that means). I didn't think much of it when I took her to daycare on Tuesday, but they said she needed to go to the doctor. The doctor diagnosed her with "pink eye" - she even used finger quotes. nice! So my parents bailed us out as we both NEEDED to be at work. (My boss was in the office for 5 hours and I haven't seen him since March 5th and wouldn't again until next Monday. So I needed to touch base with him.)

Here is a picture of baby girl waiting for the doctor. She weighed in 18 pounds 9.5 ounces. She has her well baby visit next Wednesday for her official 6 month stats.

On Sunday night during bath time Nathan gave her a mohawk. It dried that way and stayed stuck that way til her next bath on Tuesday night. ha! Loved it!
Over the weekend I took a stab at making baby food. So far I've made butternut squash, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, green beans and peas. She has tried all the orange veggies and LOVES them. She is eating breakfast and dinner right now and really seems to want a lunch, but seriously - she is young. Sister LOVES her solids though as proof in the second photo.
I did let her try puffs - she isn't a fan:
Last Saturday Nathan had to work so it was a Momma/kids day. I did some fun projects with Logan. I have no idea why I thought letting him run with feet COVERED in paint on the floor. Yeah - that was kinda a mess. lol Oh well - he loved it!
We also did some pop bottle flowers (yay Pinterest.)
Last but not least we did baking soda/vinegar volcanoes. He loves these and the set up works perfect that there is very minimal mess. Thankfully vinegar is cheap as Logan would go through a whole bottle if I let him. He did this fun activity twice last weekend.
That is the fun we have been having lately. The weather has turned back more spring like from the 80+ degree weather we were having a week ago!
Alright - off to meet Nathan for a lunch date - our new weekly date. :) I likes!

March's Family Fun Day

February's Family Fun Day was postponed as we had some things come up, but that didn't stop us from getting out in March! The weather was great and technically it would have been ideal to be outside, but I figured that we would have LOTS of opportunities for outside fun. We opted to take the kids to SPLASH UNIVERSE! It was a blast! Check out this swimmer baby... seriously - teal (my current favorite color) bikini. Being a baby - the only time in life that having a pot belly and wearing a bikini is acceptable.

And here is big bad brother all ready for some swim time!
This place is great! There is a big water playground with slides, climbing things and a huge bucket that tries to drown you in water. When the morning first started Logan wanted us to go through it with him, but the afternoon he was flying through everything himself and asking to go by himself. It was cute. He is an independent and capable little guy and it took a lot of will power not to follow him anyway. He did great. He would hear the bell dinging and sprint to cover and try to avoid the onslaught of water!
There is also a baby pool that is like bath water. Abby liked sitting in it and repeated standing and then plopping back in the water. It was too funny. She took a nap in my arms in the morning and in the evening. Then during Logan's nap time we ran to my parents' house who live close by and the kids took naps there... frankly all 4 of us took naps! It was lovely!
Here is Abby in the morning... It is warm in there so I just left her in a diaper and someone thought she was a boy... oh well. I swear she really does look like a girl. What is funny is not 15 minutes before then I was saying to Nathan how much she looked like a girl with her curly eye lashes, pink cheeks and perfect little lips. :) Sweet baby girl.
It was a great day! Logan is still talking about all the swimming he did "all by myself!" Can't wait to make a trip there this winter when the weather is FOR SURE not enjoyable.

Spring Picnic!

Late afternoon on Monday - I was sitting in my office with the warmth of the sun on my back and thought that what a waste the evening would be with a dinner inside and simply playing in the backyard. This means ... impromptu picnic dinner and park fun! I stopped at KMart as it was really the only place between work and daycare and collected some random food and called it dinner.

I sent Nathan a text requesting his presence at Montibeller Park and his only option was to RSVP with a "Yes." Thankfully he listened and met us there. :)

Abby was exhausted so she took a nap while we ate dinner:
Dinner consisted of PB & J, Doritos, bottle water, applesauce, pudding... so healthy, right? ha! Eh - sometimes fun is more worth it!
Abby enjoyed trying out the swing. She was a little diva! So sweet!
Here is a video of Abby on the swing and Logan riding on this track thingy... He thought it was a blast!

Happy First Day of Spring!

It is the first day of Spring! Abby thought she would wear a lovely springy outfit today and I must say - sister is rocking it! :) Her little leggings are just beyond cute to me. I took this picture this morning when I dropped off Abby at daycare. Happy Girl!

Family Walk!

The weather has changed! Spring officially starts next Tuesday, but here we are with 70 degree temperatures and sunshine! YAY! The first order of business first family walk! It was great. Logan at first wanted to ride his scooter... then push Abby... then ride his scooter. The scooter won with a couple stops to push Abby along the way. Here are the kiddos.
Abby is all ready for her first walk.
Trying to get a family shot. HA!
Big boy rocking the scooter and helmet.
Daddy and Abby
PHOTO BOMBER LOGAN... ha!
Take Two... ha!
It was a great walk before dinner. Last night we headed outside and introduced Abby to the backyard. Loving all this time outside!

My daughter is a nudist.

True story. Sister loves to be naked! And only a few short months ago diaper changes were acts of torture. Now... look out we are going spread eagle and loving every second. Not to mention Abby is rolls for days on her sweet little legs. After having such a skinny boy in her brother it is nice to have a baby who looks the part! She is such a happy girl these days. (Thank God colic has gone... oh Lord was that rough. Colic is NOT a joke.)

Here are some pictures of our sweet naked baby:

(Seriously - look at those rolls! LOVE THEM)
She has also discovered that not only can she have a fun time grabbing her feet she can stick them in her mouth and lick them. Yum. HA!
Love this baby. She has made our world so whole and complete and special and amazing. She has the best smile - lights up her face and the room. She doesn't have the belly laugh of her brother but a little giggle that she makes you work hard for. Now that Spring has sprung in Michigan I can't wait to get her outside and enjoying the Summer sun.

Abby's Baptism

Wow I have been MIA - seems to be a theme these days! On February 26th we were blessed to baptise Abby in our church, Knox Presbyterian. Our families all gathered and we celebrated this beautiful gift from God that is Abby Rae. It was wonderful!

Here is Abby at our house before the service. There is a picture of me 30 years ago in the same dress, propped up in the corner of the couch at my Grandma's house. I can't wait to put them in a side by side frame.
Oh how I love these beautiful babies! Logan is always so proud to hold his sister. Such a lovely shot of them together!
It was quite funny as Pastor Chuck had quite a handful of water and it went all down the back AND front of Abby's head/face. It was quite funny and made for a memorable moment for us and a nice giggle from the congregation.
