I want to make sure I write down little things about Logan at this age that I don't want to forget... here are a few of them...
1. Logan loves to say "bye" to everything. For example yesterday morning he woke up and wanted to go potty - since he was wearing footie pajamas that usually results in a naked Logan. He ran into our bedroom and climbed into Nathan's side of the bed and pulled up the covers and cuddled in. Eventually he got to playing and running back and forth between his room and ours and then grabbed his pajamas and says he is cold. So Nathan got him dressed and Logan says, "bye belly button.... bye naked...." ha! He says bye to all the characters of the show he may watch when the show is over. He asks us to say bye to every one of his stuffed animals and toys and such. It is cute.
2. Logan insists on sleeping with his Buzz Lightyear action figure... not a stuffed one. A hard plastic large, noise making Buzz Lightyear. We have finally got him to not push buttons after he goes to bed because Buzz is sleeping too. Although there are many mornings where I wake up to the sounds of Buzz! ha!
3. He is talking up a storm... it is adorable. If you ask him a question he doesn't know how to answer he just says part of the question back. For example, "Logan what color is that?" his response "color is that?" Logan can count, do his ABCs, but naming colors are hard for him. He can match colors, but putting a name on them doesn't really happen. He is young - I'm not worried. I just love all the stuff he talks about and says. It is like a new word explosion of words/thoughts every day.
4. A little story - on Saturday night we were on our way home from Nathan's parent's house. We were a little later than normal, but we were able to see the moon rise. It was huge and orange and beautiful! I pointed it out to Logan and his response, "No, it is Mars!" ha! We figured out he saw an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse where Goofy goes to Mars. He knows what the moon is, but apparently the color threw him for a loop. It was cracking Nathan and I up though.
5. He is totally daytime potty trained now. He has had a one accident in the past two weeks and I think that is pretty awesome! I don't think he has woken up wet from a nap either so we really should be able to put him in just underware, but we still put him in a pull up. He took a 3 1/2 hour nap on Sunday and still woke up dry! Pretty awesome! He also doesn't typically need to be prompted to pee - he tells us when he has to go. Oh and he likes privacy when he is going to poop and every poop is "biiiiiiiiig poop Momma!" ha! He aparently doesn't have any other kind!
I just love this little guy so much. He is beyond a blessing and makes us laugh with his antics so often. He has no fear when it comes to jumping and being active. He starts swim lessons two weeks from today and I'm pretty sure he is going to love them. They are parent/toddler and he is going to do them with Nathan. They will have a great time!
Alright - time to get back to work.

A quiet weekend...
We had a pretty quiet weekend - which is always so welcomed! We went out to Nathan's parent's house yesterday and had a visit with both sets of Great-Grandparents. Nathan's paternal grandparents live in what used to be the garage and is now a lovely apartment so visiting them is always fun and easy. His maternal grandparents live in a near by assisted living facility as their health isn't as good. We did enjoy our visits and they always just love watching Logan be his usual rambunctious self!
This first photo is Logan in Grandma and Grandpa Wolfe's apartment. We spent a lot of time in there yesterday and I just love visiting with them. Considering all of my grandparents have passed away I love having grandparents to tease and love on! It is wonderful! He looks like such a big boy in this picture.

At least when Logan is older and we say we are sending him off to the circus he should be easily employable... ha!

We were planning on going to church, but I'm still not 100% and we were using Logan as our alarm clock and he slept in until 8:30!! Goodness! I think it helped that he woke up at 3:30 am and asked to go potty and then going back to bed he kind of reset and slept later than usual. Works for me! We all needed sleep for sure. We are having a relaxing pajama morning. Logan wanted to do some art. Apparently he wanted to make sure he was able to see what he was doing. Our little lefty! ha!

Muffins!
Logan loves helping in every way possible. With the potty training independence that he is experiencing we are seeing even more of his independent/helping spirit coming out. It really does warm our hearts and it really does frustrate us at times as well because it might not be something he should be helping with.
Thankfully with almost everything (other than the boiling pasta he wanted to pour down in the colander last night) we are able to find ways Logan can help. He finds such joy in it. Before I went down for the count with the sickness to end all sicknesses Logan and I made some apple muffins!
He had such a great time mixing up the batter and he was in charge of putting the liners in the muffin tin. When in came time for pouring the batter I was thankfully able to convince him that mommy should do that (not an easy task) and he was in charge of telling me which liner to fill! It worked perfect!
They baked while he was upstairs having his bath and were nice and warm for a bedtime snack. Logan loved them.... as you can see:

Potty Traning Wrap Up
I think it is pretty safe to say that Logan is day time potty trained! He has been a little rock star. Last weekend he had a little tummy bug that left him with diarrhea, but acting and eating fine. We did put him back in a diaper for that time, but he still told us whenever he had to go poop or pee and never had any accidents in his diapers.
In the week he was at my parents house while I was sick he had exactly ZERO accidents and now tells us whenever he has to go as compared to us asking him all the time if he has to go. It has been pretty great! He still goes in a pull up at naps, but the overwhelming majority of the time he is dry when he wakes up. He is in a diaper at bed time and that part of potty training will just come as he gets a little older and more mature. I will say however, that he is not quite as wet when he wakes up and quickly asks to go potty after waking up. So here are my final thoughts on potty training: (and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!)
1. You can't force potty training - just because YOU want your child to potty train doesn't mean you should start doing it. It isn't about YOU it is about your child/children.
2. Introduce the potty at times that make sense. For us it was before bath time when he was naked anyway. We would sit him on the big potty (he preferred that to the little potty on the floor) and if he went great - if not no biggie. We started doing this months ago.
3. Don't let you child sit on the potty for extended periods of time. I personally don't think that is healthy for their bottoms, but also the potty becomes a play time verses a time to do their business. Even when Logan had his bout with diarrhea we would only let him sit on the potty for 10-15 minutes max. Usually it was no more than 10 minutes. It is one thing to let your child become familiar with the potty - it is a whole different thing to just let them sit and play/read/etc etc.
4. Go for the underwear... yes they will have accidents, but eh - that is what washing machines are for. Make sure you have lots of extra clothes ready too. We opted to let Logan run around in underwear, socks and shirt and no pants. Made for easier access when he said he had to go.
5. Pull ups worked well for naps as Logan still felt like they were more like underwear as he could step into them and we called them "Buzz and Woody" underwear since those were the characters on them. We didn't use them during the day for potty training though - I felt they were too much like diapers to be effective.
6. Make sure you and your partner are on the same page. Nathan and I weren't quite on the same page as I didn't talk to him too much before saying, "hey, I think we should potty train Logan this weekend, what do you think?" I REALLY should have talked to him more as the first day was a bit of struggle between Nathan and I too. We could have avoided that totally if I had just communicated better with him. Communication with your care givers is very critical too. It worked well for us that the transition from us home with him to my mom home with him to daycare three days a week worked out really well.
7. Accidents happen... our response was, "That's okay, but next time let's put the pee pee in the potty and not in in our big boy underwear." Did not make it a big to do that they make a mess. It is just a little pee!
8. Using the stickers - or whatever your child is interested in - helped us out a lot. Logan doesn't ask for them anymore, but it worked well when we were starting out.
9. Asking Logan if he had to go every hour to 90 minutes when we first started as I think he would get so into something he was doing he wouldn't realize he had to go until he had already started going a little bit.
Again - these are just my thoughts, opinions and what worked for us. Good luck to all of you in your potty training efforts!! :)

Who needs a sick DAY when you can have a sick WEEK?!
That is what I had... good gosh. I literally can't remember ever being so sick. It was utterly horrible. It all started with a couch/sinus congestion last Friday and Saturday and then by Saturday night I had a fever and then it all just went to hell after that. I went to the doctor on Monday and that crazy lady - rather than listening to my list of symptoms said I had whooping cough. Maybe if she had treated me for the flu at that appointment rather than assuming worst case scenario I might not have missed an entire week of work!
Needless to say - I didn't have whooping cough. In the end I believe I had an upper respiratory infection on top of the flu on top of another thing and there you have it. SICKER THAN A DOG. I didn't leave my bed all week short of a trip to the ER for fluids and such. Finally on Thursday night my fever broke and stayed that way! THANK YOU GOD! That started the road to recovery. I'm feeling a lot better, but still have a couple minor symptoms annoying my world. But boy oh boy do I feel better.
Logan stayed at my parents' house pretty much the whole week (THANK GOD FOR GRANDMA AND GRANDPA!) so I could rest and he wouldn't get this nastiness!
So that was my week - on to a fresh week or a lot more healthiness!

Potty Traning Days 3 and 4 and snow day!
Logan has been doing so great with potty training - I'm quite pleased. On Monday he was with my mom and did a great job! ZERO accidents! He went 7 times on the potty and the majority of those times he initiated it. Good stuff! Tuesday was his first daycare potty training day - I sent in 6 changes of clothes because #1 that is what they suggested and #2 I had no idea what to expect. He did great - one accident and that was it. Pretty great! He hasn't pooped on the potty since Saturday. When daycare put him in a regular diaper for nap (they couldn't find the pull ups in his bag) he filled it up. So I think that is something we need to work on, but I'm not sure how to do that just yet. But we'll figure it out.
The only potential obstacle we have is that when he has gone in time out he immediately has to go potty. I don't know if this is him trying to play us because he knows we'll take him out of time out to pee (although we do start it over again after he goes) or because he kind of slows down and then realizes he has to go. Not sure... he has done it the last three time outs.
We are all home today - the weatherman has been building up this HUGE blizzard we were supposed to get, but in the end we only got probably about 8 of the 10-16 inches predicted. I'll take it. Nathan has a paid snow day and I don't so I'm working from home today. Not quite as productive as a day in the office, but I'll get a few things done.
This is how Nathan and Logan spent the morning:
Logan loves swinging and flying in the blankets... always perfect for a good laugh fest!
