Still alive...

Sorry it has been such long since I posted last. Things are fine - just BUSY!

A quick recap...

  • My birthday was both a success and failure. I woke up to breakfast in bed. Nathan brought the plate of food and Logan brought the salt and pepper. And went ahead and salt and peppered the carpet. It was pretty cute. The prime time portion of the day was taken up by Nathan's sister's graduation ceremony from her Masters program. So most of what Nathan had planned didn't pan out. It was a big bummer, but we ended the night on a good note. Movie and then to the Melting Pot for some chocolate fondue dessert. YUMMMY!
  • Since then we have just been busy living life. I've been LOVING life lately. I'm working on losing weight... 15 pounds so far! YAY!
  • Logan is working really hard to actually SAY - Mommy. It is funny because "mama" was his first word and he said it for a little while and then stopped... for like a year. I would be lying if it didn't break my heart a little when he just screams "DADDY DADDY DADDY!" at the sight of Nathan - the most I get out of him is Bobby. This wouldn't be a HUGE deal except for that fact that his first teacher at daycare is Bobbie and he shouts with joy and screams her name when he sees her. We are consistently repeating back "mmmmmobby" and last night for the first time he actually SAID Mommy when repeating us. I'm very much looking forward to the day when he looks and says it to me unprompted. I will say - the saving grace is that NONE of his words start with "M" - I lost count on his words after about 115 (we have been in a language explosion lately) and exactly 0 start with "M."
  • Logan spent the weekend with my in-laws which everyone seemed to enjoy the visit. Although his parents REALLY missed him. While he was away Nathan and I busted some serious tail on the basement. Earlier this year we did some work on my craft room and that was great and all. HOWEVER... the rest of the basement... oh.my.gosh. So so bad. Clean House worthy bad... couldn't get from here to there bad... just bad bad bad. We have a very very long to-do list of things around the house this summer and many of them would be most helped by us having a functional, clean and organized basement. And we actually did it! It was a LONG two days and I kept disappearing as I have a scrapbook order to send to California tomorrow and was working on that. But Nathan and I did a TON of work down there and it looks STELLAR! I just kept walking in there and just dancing around. Nathan thought was crazy.

So that is where we have been as of late. We are heading up to Cadillac, MI this coming weekend to help get Nathan's grandparent's house in order now that it is on sale and such. Hopefully the trip will go smoothly. Logan doesn't sleep in pack and plays anymore so we are trying a PeaPod Plus tent for him to sleep in. Fingers crossed! My mom was going to try and get him to nap in it today... hope it went well.

Will be back to normal posting soon I hope!

Starting chores early!

Logan LOVES to be a little helper. Just loves it! Anything he can do by himself or with minimal assistance is preferred over all else. Yesterday after Nathan arrived home from work, Logan ran out the front door to help Daddy take in the trash bin from the morning's pick up. Look at that joyful face taking in the trash! I don't know any adult who finds that task thrilling... do you? He thought he was big and strong pushing it in the garage - he was so proud.

As a reward for doing his chore, Logan - who is OBSESSED with being in the driver's seat - decided to run back to daddy's car and take it for a joyride! Daddy helped Logan pack the car out of the driveway and to the neighbor's house, turn around and pull it in the garage. You would have thought Logan saved the world! He was SOOO excited when he came running in the house... "CAR!! CAR!!" he shouted! It was flippin adorable! And before anyone calls us Britney Spears... just don't. ok? good. (Besides - it was Nathan's idea... NOT mine! Photos were taken when he was still parked in the driveway.)

Speaking of cars - we are doing our first family moving night on Friday night... and what are we watching?! You guessed it! CARS!! YIPEE! Popping some popcorn and making a huge pillow bed and after an early bath we are settling in for what I hope to be a REALLY fun evening. I'll let you know how it turns out... as always! (Will be a fun way to kick of my birthday on Saturday! Yay for the big 2-9!)

An Apple a day...

Last night as we were getting ready to eat dinner - there was no real plan. It is the end of our fiscal month which means the grocery envelope is almost empty and waiting to be refilled when we start over on Friday. Anyway - I was looking in the pantry and then fridge when Logan peeked around my legs and saw the couple of apples left in the crisper drawer.

Logan loves apples. Typically I will peel it and slice it up for him to eat. I always assume the peel will be kind of hard for him to chew so I just avoid it. Last night Logan would let me have it in order to peel and slice up. I figured - why not let him just go at it. And go at it he did. He managed to stop at least for a few bites of grilled cheese and some milk. I think he did a pretty good job for his first try just eating the apple. He carried it around for a good twenty minutes before moving on to play time. He was SO happy though. Kept saying, "Num Num Num!!" lol I'm pretty sure he is the cutest boy to ever live... but I suppose every mom says that...

A little video fun!

Who doesn't love watching a toddler be a toddler?! I know I love it! Here are a few videos of Logan from Sunday and one from a couple weeks ago. Please ignore the toys all over the place.

The first video is from a couple weeks ago. This is our activity about 50% of the time when it comes to morning diaper changes... especially when he has pooped before getting out to his crib. I don't mind since normal diaper changes he is a champ and will day down for us. Logan LOVES being chased... like really loves it.

The second video is from this past Sunday - another one of Logan's favorite things... climbing/walking/etc on daddy. He will tumble off only to get right back on and try again. It cracks us up.

The last video is from this past Sunday as well just before it was time to head up to his bath. Logan pulled out is sit and spin and in a matter of a short minute goes from spinning to getting up and dancing to sitting on the top. He has a great time with it for sure!

Mother's Day!

What a wonderful day!! We had a very busy Friday and Saturday so I was most looking forward to a beautiful Mother's Day - and that is exactly what I got!! We spent the night at my parents after driving back from Illinois (we were there for my brother-in-law's graduation.) This morning I was up early so I could be to church to SING! Ahhhhh - it was such a great feeling. Some of you know in my previous life I was a singer... I l.o.v.e. to sing. It has been some time since I REALLY sang sang as opposed to just sing along. It was the most wonderful feeling - seriously the most wonderful. My parents had come to church with us and afterwards we met my aunt and uncle for brunch. It was a good time.
We came home for some more relaxing time. Logan went down for his nap... and so did mommy! ha! 2 1/2 hours later we both woke up!!
The rest of the day we have just spent having fun and spending time together. Logan is in a great mood and we are all laughing so much it hurts! That is a great day, right? The more laughter the better the day, in my opinion!
Nathan took some pictures of Logan and I as he did last year. I think they turned out okay.
Logan gave me LOTS of kisses today... he REALLY likes smashing his face against mine for kisses!

I love his little face in this one... my mischievous boy.
Nathan and Logan gave me this beautiful necklace from an Esty shop online. I absolutely love it!! "logan" hand stamped with a lovely pearl charm. I loves it! Muy Mucho!
Now look at these next two photos. One from today - Mother's Day 2010... the next just a year ago on Mother's Day 2009! My what a difference a year makes! Can't wait to see how we will look together next year!
Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful blog mommas out there! Much love to you!

Logan beat up Grandma...oops!

So yesterday I got this photo from my mom with the caption, "The joys of playing with my Grandson":
My first reaction was WHAT THE?!?! Turns out my mom has no memory of how this actually happened (or so she says.) My mom is a very rough and tumble Grandma - the first to get on the floor with the little ones and wrestle and play and have a great time. This resulted in an eye injury which thankfully mom found more funny than anything else! Logan also took a header off the porch at home, on the same day, and has a good scratch on his head... I guess turn around is fair play! ha! So Grandma ends up with a shiner just in time for Mother's Day!

We have a long night and Saturday ahead of us. I'm just holding out for Sunday! We have to drive 5 hours after work today to Illinois for Nathan's brother's college graduation. Then driving back on Saturday. Can't wait to spend another Mother's Day with my sweet boy!! We are spending Saturday night at my parents and then they are coming to our church (I'm singing during the service) and then brunch afterwards. I can't wait!!

And then next weekend it is MY BIRTHDAY!! One of the best days of the year!!!

Piper's Birthday

Our sweet and beautiful niece Piper turned two. She had the sweetest pink part at The Tree House in Chelsea. It was completely wonderful. Piper was such a pretty princess in her frilly pink dress and it was a great time all around. Check her out in her new sunglasses and cupcake purse!

Love this picture of my sister-in-laws Sarah and Miss Piper. Such joy on the face of Sarah.

The get together was "Pinkalicious" themed and everyone wore pink for the party. I think Logan looks pretty great in pink!

Piper loved her pinkalicious doll. She was so happy.

Look at these STUNNINGLY beautiful cupcakes - due to my weight loss efforts I didn't try them - but everyone else said they were fluffy and wonderful!

LOVE this picture!
Logan was trying so hard to keep up with the big boys all evening. It was very cute to watch him run with cousin Tommy and Tommy's cousin Bennett!
Piper even got her own motorcycle! Nothing like a princess on a motorcycle! It was great!

The kiddos eating their pink dinner - it was really cute!
Piper did a great job blowing out her candles - she may have had some extra help, but I'll give Piper all the credit.

All the kids REALLY loved the pinkalicious cupcakes that the kids other grandma - Pat - made. They were thrilled - at least Logan seemed like he did!

After dinner all the kids ventured out to the play area. This place was great - slides, climbing things, webs, tunnel slides, etc etc. At first I put Logan in the toddler/baby area, but that lasted all of two minutes before he insisted in playing in the big kid place. And I must say - he did GREAT! Nathan went through with him the first few times, but other than needing help up the initial climbing area to get in the high part Logan was running wild through the tree house play land! I love watching him play like a big boy!

Nathan enjoyed it too!
Piper was the cutest thing ever - every time she came down the slide she would look at Sarah or Kyle and say, "one more... one more..." It was A.DOR.ABLE.
The place had a great courtyard outside and had a big 'ol bubble machine! The kids went WILD! Seriously so happy about it. Piper and Logan just kept running around yelling, "Bubbles!!! BUBBLES!!!!"

A group shot of my family - the HUNTS!. My parents, brother's family and our little Wolfe pack. (yes - Nathan and I were the Hunt-Wolfe wedding. GOOD TIMES!)
Nathan and I - I'm looking forward to the next time we get a picture taken and I'll be thinner and look healthier! (11 pounds down - 800 to go! LOL)
The three cousins - such adorable kids!
We left around 7:20 and had a 25 minute drive home. We did a super fast bath and got Logan his snack and to bed - only 15 or so minutes late. We were shocked he stayed awake the whole way home.
It was a wonderful day and great memories were made. I hope you all had a wonderful memory filled weekend as well!

Splish, Splash, Splosh!

Early yesterday morning we had a MAJOR thunderstorm. While I love thunder and lightning and all that good stuff, I was more excited for AFTER the showers had stopped. We put Logan's new rain boots on him - mismatched pajamas and all - and headed outside to splash in some puddles. We didn't have any in our driveway, but our neighbors had some great ones! I could comment on all these, because I LOVE them, but I think the pictures speak for themselves.
