This weekend my dad and Nathan tackled our back patio area. Originally it was a 12x20 slab of cracked/uneven/angled concret. I mentioned to my dad a few weeks ago that we were thinking of putting a low wood deck over the space. Well - in all his retirement free time he jumped on the project and before I knew it we had everything priced out and were ready to start! WOAH! My goal was to have it done before Logan's first birthday party, but we were on a roll!
Last weekend Dad came over and they men dug the post holes and got those ready and then during the week Dad came out one afternoon and put the header board along the house. Saturday morning was when the real fun began!

Our sad little patio area. There was a bush off to the left side, but Nathan pulled it out. The one on the right will probably come out too since it has been pretty well hacked up.

Logan even came out to lend a helping hand. No work can be done without all three of the boys getting their hands dirty.

Dad and Nathan got their hands dirty with the deck - Logan opted for some grass. He is finally starting to be comfortable in the grass. So much so that he was eating it. All well and good until he started gagging on it! GROSS!

Saturday they finished getting up all the support beams. It is going to be a BIG deck - 14x20 feet! WOAH! The patio didn't seem that big because of all the overhang form the bushes, but this sure does seem really big!

On Sunday morning my dad came over early and they got going on the deck boards. Dad had to leave (he was helping my brother with some painting) so Nathan was let loose to hammer away. We skipped church, but I figured Jesus was a carpenter - He would understand. :-)
Logan and Daddy checking out the handywork.

Testing it out. Yes - he is wearing a halloween bib. HA! At least it matches his orange (non halloween) onesie!

The deck as of 8 pm last night. Nathan did 20 more boards after Dad left for a total of 23 finished. Only 5 or so more to go! Yipee!

Nathan doing the strong man pose I requested. He told me I was dumb, yet still did it. HA! Go figure... I will post pictures when we get the final boards and detail work done. Hope you like!
