Baby Logan - Week 27

Seems like not too long ago - the subject said "Baby Wolfe - 10 weeks" - time sure does fly!

Things are good here as the 2nd trimester draws to a close! I think most of you know by now that I have gestational diabetes. While it does kind of suck poking my finger 4 times a day and following a "diet" plan and such... it is all worth it. I officially start following it tomorrow as I meet with the dietitian tomorrow morning. It is only for 13 weeks - so no biggie. They probably said I'll lose weight for most of the rest of my pregnancy. We'll just have to wait and see about that though.

I have been playing around with foods and seeing what effects me and how. It seems that going for walks after I eat plays a MAJOR part in controlling my blood sugar levels. Even just going for a 15 minute walk. So that is nice. Sometimes 13 weeks does feel like it could be overwhelming, but just take each meal at a time and each day at a time and it will go fast. Especially given how fast the rest of the pregnancy has gone!! :-)

The house is coming together... probably not as fast as we would like, but we are getting there. We have our first piece of baby furniture!! Kyle and Sarah gave us a bassinet! I'm excited to put it in his room! Although ultimately it will probably go in the living room on the main floor so I'm not taking him up and down and up and down the stairs all day.

Nathan felt Logan move 3 or 4 times last night before we went to bed. Usually this little man gets quiet whenever Nathan puts his hands on my belly. Maybe when Logan is born Nathan will have a calming touch. We shall see! It seems like in the past week or so he has been moving A LOT! And I'm feeling him in different places then real low. He must be getting strong enough to kick through the placenta or something. Who knows. But it sure does seem like he is having a good time. I also say my belly move for the first time a week ago. That was pretty funny looking. Sometimes at work I'll be working at the computer and all of a sudden my arm will bounce a little from him kicking. I enjoy it!

So here is his update:
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) (at least we all know what a cauliflower is as compared to last weeks English hot house cucumber or whatever it was!) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, (I can definitely tell when he is awake or asleep, but mostly it is just from movement so I guess that is kind of easy, huh?) opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. (I always wonder if he is thinking about something or dreaming or whatever. I don't know if that is even possible at this point, but it is fun to think about.) While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were to be born now. (AMAZING!) Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle. (Haven't felt what I would call hiccups, but we'll see!)

Have a great day!
