Baby Logan - 34 weeks

Had my regular check up today and everything is going great! My BP was a touch high, but my OB was fine with it. Last week a different doctor - the one who does my insulin - said my amniotic fluid level was a bit low and that I needed to drink even more water. So I have been. My OB said when she got his report my level wasn't low - it was just on the lower side of normal. Low would be less than 5cm and I had just over 8cm. She did a quick ultrasound today and said everything looks great and I have over 10cm now so nothing to worry about. I was able to cancel my appt for Friday's fluid check at the insulin doctor's office. YAY! To sum it all up everything is going great!

I go back next week for just a routine check. I have my standard non-stress tests twice a week though.

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which she'll need to regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
