So at Logan's new room at daycare they really encourage the kids to use their utensils. Well - how does that work for a 13 month old? In a VERY MESSY way! Logan has done really well for many months using a fork (if we put the food on it for him), but the spoon has eluded us. Just in the last two weeks of being in Room 7 at daycare Logan's spoon abilities have greatly improved... however - it is still VERY messy! Mommy will admit that I am NOT good with food messes. Food on a person's face completely grosses me out... I mean GAG worth grosses me out. I've gotten over it some while Logan went down his solid food journey, but this is just too much.
We have tried at home to allow Logan to feed himself with his utensils. He really is doing great for a 13 month old... I really shouldn't complain. BUT - when your child comes away from the table looking like this..... NASTY! (and a note - Nathan had already cleaned Logan up some... but that tray... GAG WORTHY FOR MOMMY!):

Man, I am not looking forward to those types of messes, that tray reminds me of something you'd see in an elementary school trash bin! Atleast Logan pulls off the "i'm messy but still adorable" look very well :)
Ugh. Your post reminds me that we need to use utensils more. . . . But the mess -- and the potential that they could be weapons. . . . I'm so impressed with Logan, though!! He seems to do pretty well with them overall. They are just growing up, aren't they?
I don't know... I feel like 13 months is a 'little' young? Maybe I'm crazy. Danny has never used any utensils. We're way behind... LOL.
