I was looking forward to showing him how to hold the bat.
I was looking forward to showing him how to hit the ball off and not knock down the whole thing.
I was looking forward to the light in his eyes when he figured out how to do everything.
I was looking forward to jumping and cheering for him up on figuring it all out.
What I was not realizing is that somewhere inside this "ALL BOY" boy of mine was an innate understanding of how to hit the ball of the tee and how to hold a bat. We walked out - I handed him the bat and BAM! smacked the ball right into the back yard.
I looked at Nathan and felt like - well okay then - so much for THAT moment! HA! But no worries I really wasn't disappointed so much (okay maybe a teeeeeeny tiny bit) but I was overwhelming proud of my little boy's smarts and understanding. These pictures were from a couple weeks ago on my phone, but since then he has just loved running out to the backyard after dinner and hitting away while mommy and daddy play infielders! GREAT FUN!
(Oh and he is a lefty in a house of righties so we may have to work on that! Or recruit his Grandpa Hunt, who bats left handed, to teach him how to really knock one out of the park!)

That's so cute! I'm not sure I'm going to be ready for it when Santi's innate "boy genes" kick in!
