I don't know about you other moms out there, but when I joined the mom club, my membership in the wife club kind of lapsed.
Please don't take that to say that I forget how I'm madly in love with the amazing man I married. I will, however, admit that I often forget to put as much effort into that part of my life as I should. Not sure I should admit that to the blog universe, but oh well.
To that point - there are days and possibly weeks that I am so focused on my roll as mom and employee and Lindsey that I forget my husband and all his wonderfulness. And trust me - there is A LOT of wonderfulness. Am I the only one who lets life get in the way?
Every so often Nathan and I need some one-on-one time... more than just a cuddle night on the couch... more than just a dinner for two. SO - my fantastic parents - amazing parents - spectacular parents offered to take Logan for the weekend. Nathan and I had Friday night, all day Saturday and part of Sunday for just the two of us! WOW!! Seriously my mom and dad are the most wonderful people. We are lucky to have them.
Friday night we went to a movie with a friend and her boyfriend. Then it was just a nice relaxing, romantic night at home.
Saturday morning Nathan wanted to sleep in, but I wasn't able to sleep in beyond 8:30. So I got up and took both cars for oil change and then made Nathan quite the breakfast (eggs, toast, sausage, and hash browns! YUM!) in bed and woke his booty up at 10:30! ha. We then got ready for the day and headed to the post office to get passports (no we aren't going anywhere, but Nathan's work will pay for his and I figured maybe someday I'll use it outside of going to Canada!) After that we went to IKEA! YAY! I love having an Ikea 20 minutes from us. Makes me so dang happy!
Nathan was given a big tip during his trip to Columbus for work on Friday - pays to do a great job, no?! So we stopped at Sprint and bought some new phones! We haven't bought new phones in close to four years. Mine was still doing okay, but the battery life was drainging. Nathan was on his second hand me down phone. With the surprise bonus we decided to take a leap and get some decent phones. We walked out with two Blackberry Curves! Watch out world... Lindsey and Nathan have CRACK-berries... this could be scary.
Then we rented a hotel room for Saturday night... one with a jacuzzi in the room! oooo la la! We got some dinner before hand and then headed over for some more relaxing.
The most funny moment of the night. I'm sitting in the jacuzzi waiting not so patiently for it to fill up so I can enjoy some bubbly jet action.... Well.... patience is not a virtue God blessed me with. So JUST when the jets began getting covered with water I requested (demanded) Nathan to turn on the jets. The jet directly in front on me was pointed up... which I didn't notice... BAM!! Water FLYING out and hitting me DIRECTLY in the face. Then there is me trying to block it and sputter out, "TURN IT OFF!!! TURN IT OFF!!!" Thankfully my sweet man did - but that was quickly followed by him falling to the ground in a fit of hysterics. It was actually REALLY funny though.
We had a great night of sleep and went down to get breakfast and brought it back up to our room, busted out my laptop and watched Grey's Anatomy from last week and continued our cuddle-fest and relaxation efforts. Once we checked out we went bowling - my high score... 110. Nathan's was 156. Clearly we are heading to the level of bowling professionals!
We came back home to do some picking up and then out to my parents and picked up our little boy. I swear he was bigger, more handsome, smarter, happier, sweeter and funnier than I remember him being.
With that being said - Logan is just a small reason I am so in love his Daddy, Nathan. Will it always take - should it always take a full weekend with just the two of us for me to really give Nathan all the love and attention he deserves? NOPE! It needs to be something I do every week, every day. And I REALLY will try to, but these weekends flying solo are pretty great too!
I love you Nathan!

That sounds like a GREAT weekend, Lindsey! Kudos to you guys for knowing you need a little time to yourselves sometimes - you'll be even better parents for doing so I'm sure of it! :)
