Howell Balloon Fest!

At the beginning of the summer I made a mental list of things I wanted to do with Logan this summer. The list is long and I'm not sure we'll get to everything, but one of the big things was checked off the list tonight - HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL! It was an impromptu outing with my brother's family in the town they live. We had originally planned to go to another one later in July, but the weather was pretty great today so we couldn't resist the invite! (THANKS KYLE AND SARAH!)

The little carnival portion was just okay as Logan and Piper weren't able to ride anything beyond the merry-go-round as they don't quite reach that 36" height requirement. They were troopers though! Then we ventured over to a grassy area to watch all the beautiful balloons take off! I've never seen so many so close before! Logan was clearly overwhelmed when we first got there - he had never been in such a big crowd before.

(Oh and I used to be one of those parents that thought parents who put a "child leash" on their toddler... uhm yeah - I think we may invest in one. Logan is a RUNNER - big time! As much as we try he isn't good at holding hands... although we'll keep at it for sure! We kept track of him just fine and between the few times he did hold hands and times on Daddy's shoulders he was about 90% content. It is just that 10% that really sucked!)

When we went to sit and watch the balloons take off Logan was not feeling the whole sit and watch. He would watch for a couple minute and then jump up and try to run around, but with so many people their wasn't much room. Daddy was smart though and took him further in the back where there was plenty of space to run wild! That made Logan very happy.

We left a little late and jut decided we would skip bath and just put him right in bed when we got home. We got stuck in construction on the way home and the 40 minute drive took close to 90. UGH! I fully expected Logan to fall asleep as per usual, but no - he was wide awake and taking it all in! Oh well. By the time we got home he was rather slap happy. We are usually SO good about his bed time, but sometimes no matter how much you try you just can't make it perfect. We will survive. It is just one night!

Hope you enjoy the pictures. Tomorrow I'm going to check another summer action item off my list. Sidewalk chalk in the driveway! Hopefully we can do it in the morning before it rains. I need to check the weather we may have to post pone. Either way - YAY SUMMER FUN!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
