Looking back...

I can't believe all the things that have happened over the past year. Just before 2008 began we found out we were going to be parents! December 22nd to be exact. What an amazing Christmas gift God gave us!

It was surreal to know that it happened so quickly after we decided to start trying. This tiny little person was already growing and getting ready to make our lives even more fantastic than we could imagine...

One of Logan's first pictures:

Once we knew our little baby was on the way we went forward with our house buying plans! We knew that was something we wanted to do in 2008, but jumped on it as soon as the year started. In April we closed on our first house! We spent the rest of April and May making the house ours with some new paint and taking down some HORRID wallpaper! (Many thanks to my parents for all the help they gave us!)

Our moving team:

We moved in May and have had a great time making our house a home. I had hoped I would have been more help, but soon after we moved I was put on bedrest! GOOD TIMES!

Who knew sitting on your butt could be so tiring!?! But gestational hypertention - which turned into pre-eclampsia and throw in a little gestational diabetes and you are in for a placenta nightmare! I went twice a week for tests to make sure Logan was still doing well. The week leading up to his birth I was at the labor and delivery triage every day (with even once overnight stay) except for Friday. My blood pressure wasn't coming down. An ultrasound on Wednesday showed that Logan wasn't really growing in there. All my issues were ruining my placenta and making it hard for Logan to grow. Saturday was it and they decided to induce me! Everything went well - other than the epidural not working. Logan was born on August 10th, 2008 at 7:34 a.m.

Logan in the NICU isolette:

My first time holding him the day after he was born:

Life would never be the same. Those first few moments were so scary as Logan had respiratory distress because he inhaled a blood clot. Thankfully the NICU team were able to get it out and he was breathing on his own. He was just about 4 weeks early. A short week's stay in the NICU and we were able to bring him home! It is hard to believe that the little 5 pound baby boy we brought home from the NICU is the same 14 1/2 pound laughing, smiling, sitting big baby boy we have now! He is doing so great! He has blessed us with so much love, taught us new levels of patiences and how to operate on limited sleep.

Nathan and I were talking on New Years Eve and just trying to imagine how 2009 could be any better than 2008. That is when Nathan said - well you won't be pregnant in 2009. I said - uhm... but we have Logan. He says he is treating Logan's birth and my pregnancy as two different things! HAHA! He reminded me of the siatica pain, diabetes diet, waking to pee every hour, throwing up, falling asleep in the middle of the day (although that part wasn't all bad...), the crazy amount of trips to triage and unlimited doctors appts, etc etc... Okay so pregnancy wasn't my favorite thing ever.

But this next year we get to watch our bouncing baby grow into a tumbling toddler, continue making our house a home, loving each other more each day, laughing at the rediculousness that we come up with, wondering if anyone has as much fun together as we do on a daily basis, bickering and then realizing a minute later how dumb it is... and sleeping through the night again!

We hope and pray the best for everyone in 2009. I pray each day is better than the one before!

Love,

Lindsey
