Super Hero Cape

I have had it in my head for a while that I wanted to make Logan a super hero cape - something cute, dress up worthy and down right cute. I was quite intimidated by my sewing machine which I've had for 4 or 5 years, but never really figured out how to use it. I understand how to sew, but I never had a clue how to set up my machine. A friend, Siri, came over a couple weeks ago and showed me how to do it all and I was feeling better about the process, but decided I needed a supervised sewing project. That is when I volunteered my sister-in-law to be my tutor. :) She happily obliged and we decided to do the capes for our boys - her son, Liam is 7 months younger than Logan. Here is the pattern we followed: SUPER HERO CAPE. She walked me through each step as she stayed a step ahead of me - it was perfect! I got more confident as I went along and am hoping to make curtains for our bathroom as well.

Here are Christina and I modeling the capes - we figured we deserved a picture before we showed the boys!

Nathan and Christina's husband, Oliver designed the logos for the boys. Nathan was really in to designing Logan's. He went through multiple drafts and ultimately sat down with crayons and drew out what became the final design. It is pretty adorable and encompasses the lightning quickness of SUPER LOGAN!

Logan loves the cape and has worn it much of the past few days. It is adorable on him, I can't convince him the collar should be folded down, but oh well. (Side Note: the pattern calls for velcro, but I suggest either using a smaller piece of velcro or replace the velcro with snaps - which is what I did. Logan was complaining the velcro was scratching him.)

It was a great project and I'm glad Logan likes it and I must say - he is even cuter in it than I thought he would be! :)
